Spring Cleaning

dog with cleaning suppliesAs the seasons change, it’s the perfect time to refresh and reset, not just for your home but for your pet as well. We know a thing or two about cleaning up after pets and the importance of maintaining a comfortable and clean environment. Many of our techniques can help you at home too!

  • Use pet-safe cleaners – Avoid products with bleach, ammonia, formaldehyde, chlorine, phenols and phthalates, particularly in undiluted form where they may come in contact with your pet’s skin. Be careful of products with a scent or aerosol if your pet tends to lick their fur.
  • Embrace enzymes for clean up – Enzymes and bacteria break down and then consume organic materials, like urine and poo, eliminating stains and odors. Reach for a cleaner like Nature’s Miracle rather than a bottle of bleach.
  • Deep clean food and water dishes – Stainless steel is easy to clean and resists bacteria. Wash bowls daily with warm, soapy water or run them through the dishwasher.
  • Wash pet bedding and toys regularly –Bedding, blankets, and plush toys can harbor odors and dander. Washing them at least once a week keeps your home fresher and your pet healthier. Clean rubber chew toys in the dishwasher, especially if they’ve been filled with treats.
  • Stay ahead of shedding –Regularly vacuum carpets and upholstery and use a rubber broom or damp mop to pick up pet hair on hardwood or tile. A lint roller is great for quick touch-ups.
  • Maintain drains when bathing pets– If you bathe your pet at home, use a drain cover to catch loose hair and periodically clean with an enzyme-based or natural drain cleaner like baking soda and vinegar.
  • Tidy up outdoor areas–Pick up pet waste daily and hose down frequently used areas to reduce odors and bacteria.

If shedding has you overwhelmed, we can help you reduce it at the source. A game changer for spring cleaning, our Shed Control Treatment is designed to minimize shedding and keep your space cleaner for weeks. It includes:

  • A specialized conditioner to loosen and remove the undercoat
  • A high-velocity drying technique to blow out loose fur, followed by brushing with specialty tools
  • An optional Shed Control Boost for extended results
