Enrichment for Cats

While cats are often seen as independent, they thrive with daily enrichment. Just like their canine counterparts, our feline guests benefit from at least 30 minutes of play and stimulation each day. These activities help reduce stress, support natural instincts, and promote overall health and happiness.

How Cats and Dogs Differ

Enrichment is essential for all pets, but it’s not one-size-fits-all. While both cats and dogs need physical and mental stimulation, the way we deliver that enrichment is tailored to their unique behaviors and instincts. For example, a ball pit might be a hit with dogs, but cats prefer vertical exploration and quiet observation. That’s why we focus on activities that allow cats to climb, perch, stalk, and play, just as nature intended.

Cats are natural hunters, solitary by nature, and often more subtle in how they engage with their environment. They thrive with enrichment that encourages independence and curiosity, like puzzle feeders, scent trails, or interactive toys that mimic prey behavior. Unlike dogs, who often seek social play and praise, cats benefit most from calm, controlled stimulation and the ability to retreat to quiet spaces when they choose.

We also recognize that enrichment for cats isn’t always about movement. Visual stimulation, like window perches, and sensory experiences, like cat-safe herbs or textured surfaces, all play a role in keeping cats content and mentally engaged.

In short, while dogs might run toward the action, cats prefer to observe it from above.

Enrichment During Your Cats Stay

Every feline guest enjoys two daily opportunities to leave their suite and explore The Cattery, a thoughtfully designed space filled with perches, hideaways, and toys. A large window offers a view of the outdoors, while a sound box plays bird calls during the day. In the evening, calming lullabies help our guests wind down and relax. Each suite features a clear door, allowing our guests to observe their surroundings while feeling safe and secure.

For those looking to add a little extra pampering, we offer Extra Love sessions. These personalized experiences may include a gentle brush and massage, story time, or a cozy cuddle session with a frozen treat. We also offer Personal Scratch Pads, available for purchase and placed in your cat’s suite for the duration of their stay.

Our goal is to ensure every cat feels enriched, relaxed, and loved, just like at home.
